Rational

Summary

Sunbathing is calm and relaxing. I wanted to get the message across that Wellington is not always busy busy busy. I used three different Bays/Beaches (Oriental Bay, Lyall Bay, Scorching Bay) around Wellington that I found each very different to one another. I used intersecting lines through all my designs to get across the effect of the sun glares. I used many different types of blues and reds to get across the beach feeling, and the feeling of the sun. I used different backgrounds on my spreads to help get the feeling of each Bay. Like Oriental Bay is quite urban, Lyall Bay is quite a surfers beach, and Scorching Bay is very relaxing and calm.

Mainly just playing around with text and how it all relates together. In the end I bounced up the text and my symbols to make it look more crowded like how it is in the city.

After many discussions about my cover page, I'm finally happy with it.

Following a similar design process as before, I came up with this design for Scorching Bay.

Oriental Bay Design 2

Here is my new design for Oriental Bay. I like the style that has come about it, and Im generally happy about it. It also gives a feeling of sunbathing.

After getting Feedback, turns out I was going the wrong way about my designs. So my style has to reflect my design, and my style should come from my design, not the other way around.

Again I made a design for Lyall Bay following a similar design process as my other designs.

Following a similar template to Oriental Bay I made one for scorching Bay too.

I refined this design to make it feel like Oriental Bay in my mind.

Through using similar designs to David Hockney I came up with a template I liked and started having a play around with it.

After my brainstorm I thought that I enjoyed Sunbathing more than I do swimming. So my activity is Sunbathing.
